A lot of Kibbutzes cater to the tourist industry. We stopped at this Kibbutz Lunch room. Kibbutz are communities where everything is shared in common, started by Jewish settlers when they were able to regain their homeland. They would build a fence and a watchtower and put a rifleman on guard against their Arab neighbors who wanted to destroy them. The photo is probably from the early days of the Kibbutz when meals were eaten in common. This Kibbutz certainly wasn't kosher. I asked a modern looking young man at the counter, and he told me they sell pork.
